Because some time ago I got fed up with programs like 'RMCSGP' and 'GCP' as programs. Nebula was the first word that came to mind.
Stardust is what nebula's are made from, and it sounds cool.
GNU General Public Licence - however this only applies to the code.
data
directoryI'm not 100% sure. It is mostly raw data, however the numbers come from ICE's books. If you own the books it is no problem. If you don't you may not use the data.
For one of a couple of reasons. Maybe I haven't implemented it yet, I may not of thought it was useful, I may have forgotten about it or I may not use it my games. In any case contact me with a suggestion or even better a patch!
The main version runs on x86 Linux. However I have also compiled older versions under x86 FreeBSD, Alpha OSF1/Tru64 (64 bit Unix), and Sparc Solaris. It is designed to be clean and (mostly) sticks to ANSI-C, glib and GTK+ calls. It has compiled and runs on win32, but is rather unstable. I have only used it on a Linux machine since the move to GTK+ 2.0. Any reports of success or failure on other platforms would be appreciated.
Hopefully soon :) However if you are willing to try I'm willing to accept patches for the main tree. Additionally I'm willing to do modifications to remove/simplify GTK dependanncies if needed. Also I'll host binary files and libraries for other platforms.
The ticks in the P column are Prime Requisites.
They have no effect on the program after character ceration.
The ticks in the 'R' are your chracters realm stats. The
average of these stats bonus is stat bonus for realm related skills.
You have the potentials can gain option on. On a stat gain roll of 10/10 (ie 2 natural 10s) your pot is increased by 2d10 after the temp raises. Note for skills above 90 the cost is the same as for initial purchase.
A hidden skill. Used for printing. A skill with an X will not be printed in most modes. An X on a category is automatically applied to the skills when printing. Since printing is external, at the moment nothing uses these.
You can't - but don't worry it doesn't do anything.
Typing lots of these things up is a major pain in the rear. If you need a class/race/TP not listed have a look at the format. You should take less then 10 minutes to do it. Email it to me, and I'll add it to the database here for others to use. Soon the entire system will be available.
If you don't trust your players - don't play with them! However I do intent to implement logging on many operations - which helps a bit.
Correct. But most database formats are not an improvement. More significantly it makes many other things easier, without providing a false sense of security.
Easier then changing a 12 to a 22 on a paper character sheet? I think not. Unless you run a game where only the GM has physical access to the character sheets, does all the dice rolling himself, and gets the players write down all their characters actions/words/activities cheating is possible.
